Keep Calm and Trust the Science is an unputdownable account of one of the most dramatic years in Irish history from one of its key players.

Professor Luke O’Neill has become one of the most well-known and trusted voices of Ireland’s COVID-19 pandemic, thrust into the spotlight as we struggled to make sense of a crisis that saw the country grind to a halt. In these personal diaries, Luke reveals what life was like behind the scenes as he endeavoured to keep calm and trust that the science would save us. Luke’s lockdown diaries show the highs and lows of work at the cutting edge in his Trinity College lab, as well as his experience of the disappointments and the breakthroughs in science around the world, and ultimately the contribution scientists made to the health outcomes of millions globally. Shot through with the natural positivity and humour that have made Luke a home-grown hero, Keep Calm and Trust the Science is compelling account of a dramatic year in Irish history from one of its key players.

'The Irish researcher, author, and science journalist Luke O'Neill became a media darling during the pandemic as people soaked up his print, radio, and television reports about Covid. Narrating O'Neill's latest book, Ruairi Conaghan is a great fit for the author's casual expertise and extraordinary ability to connect with his audience. The Irish narrator's brisk phrasing keeps the action going as the likable author reports the details of the pandemic's spread, describing one month of its progress per chapter from January 2020 to April 2021. O'Neill writes with the instincts and crisp language of a veteran crime reporter. His candid observations about his work, colleagues, and media experiences are oddly satisfying – like a therapeutic debriefing after a traumatic experience.'
