"A scintillating start to the series."
The Advertiser

"Cocaine Blues is a delicious bon-bon of a book that will have readers eagerly looking forward to the sequel."
The Weekend Australian

The 1920s' most elegant and irrepressible sleuth returns.

It's the end of the roaring twenties, and the exuberant and Honourable Phryne Fisher is dancing and gaming with gay abandon. But she becomes bored with London and the endless round of parties. In search of excitement, she sets her sights on a spot of detective work in Melbourne, Australia. And so mystery and the beautiful Russian dancer, Sasha de Lisse, appear in her life. From then on it's all cocaine and communism until her adventure reaches its steamy end in the Turkish baths of Little Lonsdale Street.

"In the 1920s Phryne Fisher goes from Melbourne, Australia, to London to crack a cocaine-smuggling ring. There she encounters prostitutes, a hilarious feminist doctor from Scotland, and gorgeous Russian dancer Sasha de Lisse. Narrator Stephanie Daniel expertly portrays this array of characters, as well as that of Lydia, whose babyish voice contrasts with her evil intentions. With her expert accents and delivery of various emotions, Daniel's appealing voice is perfect for every situation. She deftly captures Phryne's modern approach to life and her pluckiness as she disguises herself to foil the drug trade. This delightful period piece is sure to entertain."
