The much-anticipated new novel from Matilda Woods, author of the critically-acclaimed bestseller, The Boy, the Bird and the Coffin Maker.

Curious, pin-bright Oona Britt dreams of setting sail with her ship’s captain father for a life of excitement on the wild waves. She has read stories of a magical creature – the Nardoo – who swims through the stars at night, and stows away on whaling boat the Plucky Leopard for an adventure full of myths and marvel among the ice-caps. In her second outing, Matilda Woods has crafted an enchanting, charming story of bravery on the ice-tipped ocean.

[On The Boy, the Bird and the Coffin Maker] 'A lyrical and melancholy tale [filled with] atmospheric writing.'
School Library Journal

'Elegantly told from start to finish ... debut author Woods has created a fairy tale that will linger with readers.'
Publishers Weekly, starred

'Woods has penned a gentle fable, one rich in hope that promotes the strength of kindness ... Sweet, earnest and not to be missed.'
