An uplifting story celebrating the power of working together by Matilda Woods, author of The Boy, the Bird and the Coffin Maker.

With a shrill whistle the Night Train is off, delivering its passengers to children's dreams. The yeti, the ballet dancer, the friendly monster and the princess all have starring roles. But when the train comes to an unexpected halt it's a race against time to get it moving again. Can they reach their dreams before midnight?

'John Voce introduces this fantasy about a train that transports those who star in children's dreams. Listeners hop aboard with a guard named Charlie, who punches tickets for diverse passengers heading to Sleepy Town. En route, Voce's Yeti makes tea; Henri explains ballet steps; Princess Mae discusses her dreamer, Polly; and Monster blows balloons to comfort Alec. Realistic sound effects – such as a train whistle, snow crunching, and a teapot whistling – add atmosphere. Suspense occurs when the train stops because a tree has fallen across the tracks. Voce shines as Princess Mae, who motivates the reluctant passengers to help move the tree, allowing the nightly dreams to proceed. The inspiring solution of teamwork enables the train to arrive with seconds to spare, making for a satisfying listening experience.'
