From South African and Papua New Guinean heritage, Gemma Bird Matheson started her career training at the NIDA Young Actors Studio, the Lewis Baumander Acting Studio and the Armstrong Acting Studio in Canada. Gemma made her television debut as Cate Young in Winners & Losers for Channel Seven, then appeared in Childhoods End, Neighbours, Bertram Poppingstock.
